The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is governed by its Council. The PSI Council is composed of elected and co-opted members of the Society.
The election process is governed by the PSI Memorandums and Articles of Association, which clearly state the terms of office and the process of election.
The key role of the PSI Council is to identify and direct policy of the PSI and to represent its members.

At the first Council meeting of the year, the roles of Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Deputy Membership Secretary, and International Liaison Officer were decided upon and commenced by the relevant 2026 Council members. Two PSI members were co-opted to Council, with one outstanding co-optee (from the Student Affairs Group/Early Graduate Group) to be confirmed.
