The Careers Event is jointly organised by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and the Northern Ireland Branch of the British Psychological Society (NIBPS). This is the 21st year the event has been co-hosted, and we are delighted that Maynooth University is hosting it this year. Our thanks go to the MU School of Psychology for their generous support.

This annual event provides comprehensive information on careers in and related to psychology, including the various pathways into the main professional areas. The primary audience is 2nd/pre-final–year undergraduate psychology students or those completing their first psychology qualification. Final-year students are also welcome, subject to availability.

Registration is essential.

Event format:

  • The day will open with a presentation outlining the pathways for applying to postgraduate and professional training programmes across the island of Ireland. This session will cover common application components, key experiences that strengthen applications, and practical tips for enhancing your prospects.

  • This will be followed by three panel discussions featuring speakers from a wide range of specialisms, including Clinical, Counselling, Educational, Forensic, Health, Organisational, Neuropsychology, Research and Teaching, Behavioural and Sport Psychology. These panels will explore what it’s like to work in each discipline, how to improve your chances of securing training places, top tips for success, and the opportunities available within each field.

  • A fourth panel discussion will focus on broader careers with psychology, highlighting the diverse roles and pathways open to psychology graduates.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be offered during the morning break, followed by a light lunch in the afternoon.

Maynooth University, TSI Building is on the North Campus, number 58 on the map.
