About Us
The Special Interest Group in Eating Disorders (SIGED) is dedicated to providing a forum for psychologists and other disciplines with an interest in eating disorders. SIGED aims to promote professional development in clinical practice, research and training for those who work or are interested in the field of eating disorders.
The mission of SIGED is achieved through workshops, talks and symposia as well as through collaborative partnerships with national and international eating disorder agencies. SIGED endeavours to engage with universities to encourage and promote eating disorder research and its translation into evidence-based practices. SIGED also seeks to promote greater awareness and understanding of the lived experiences of service users and their family members while disseminating current evidence-based information in the field of eating disorders to mental health and medical professionals, as well as to the general public.
SIGED is a welcoming community of people with a great interest in eating disorders. We meet on a monthly basis while continuously aiming to create a sense of awareness of eating disorders through events, discussions, sharing of information and research.
SIGED aims to support and address the concerns of psychologists, researchers, and the general public. We update members on current research while offering a space for information sharing, discussion, research and professional support. We are working towards increasing eating disorder-related content at conferences and relevant events. We also hope to work alongside other national and international organisations in promoting and informing best practise in the treatment of eating disorders.

The Special Interest Group in Eating Disorders (SIGED) is dedicated to providing a forum for psychologists with an interest in eating disorders. SIGED aims to promote professional development in clinical practice, research and training for psychologists who work or are interested in the field of eating disorders.
Despite SIGED being a newly established group in the PSI, it has fostered a sense of community among its members. Our group has created a space where we can openly discuss a variety of research, topics and ideas. We all have experience in a wide range of settings which enables us to share, learn and reflect our opinions. SIGED has brought together a group of people from all aspects of life who share one common interest in eating disorders. Our platform will keep members up to date on new research and clinical practise while improving our understanding of the nature, prevalence, aetiology and treatment of eating pathology. Our group is free to join and open to members of the PSI but also to those who have an interest in eating disorders.
The mission of SIGED will be achieved through workshops, talks and symposia as well as through collaborative partnerships with national and international eating disorder agencies.
